8 Jun 2008 - Waterson Carthy at Burgess Hill Festival

Snowdrop Music presented another fantastic musical evening in aid of Fairtrade and Stop the Traffik on 8th June 2008 at the Martlets Hall.
Waterson and Carthy are one of the top names in folk music and are led by Martin Carthy and Norma Waterson.
Martin was one of the founders of Steelye Span and has been on the British folk scene since the 1960's.
Supporting Waterson and Carthy were Gareth Davies Jones, Rob Halligan and local singer songwriter Julie Hall.
Fairtrade goods were on sale, and the work of both Fairtrade and Stop the Traffik was highlighted throughout the evening. A special 'Freedom Ale' (Fairtrade ale!) was available at the bar.
In addition Robert Egglestone, of Snowdrop Music and our group's new Chairman, organised a showing of 'Black Gold' at our local cinema, The Orion, on Tuesday 10th June, again as part of the town's Summer Festival.
This is what the Mail on Sunday said of the film:
"Hauntingly human by exploring the plight of Ethiopian coffee farmers whose appalling poverty is laid at the door of a few multi-nationals and us uninformed consumers."
